On the Balkan three taxa of Psorodonotus occur on the Balkan: fieberi, illyricus and macedonicus. These were mostly placed as subspecies of P. fieberi. A new thorough study has now shown that they should be treated as separate species. The authors have combined morphological, bioacoustic and DNA data to underpin these conclusion.
